Family Love in the Fall

My favorite thing about photographing at schools is meeting the amazing families that become my clients.  Already having a "thing" going with the kids makes it that much more special when I get to meet the whole family, which in turn makes that next time at school (and so on) even (even) more special... I adore this preschooler from her big blue eyes to her adorable Mary Jane-d feet -- she continues to eat up my Elsa jokes and I can't wait til our next time (when I can test out my new material AND meet her new baby sister...) Beyond cuteness...

On the Campus Where they First Met

I have been photographing this AMAZING family since before their daughter (and Katie B. Photography) was even born and this was our second session on the campus of where they first met (and where it all began)... The little ballerina in the tutu who became Katie B. Photography's first LA Parent Cover Girl, a year later, is still bringing it every time... If there was ever a family that screamed LOVE and kindness, this is it...

May at the Beach

Here in Los Angeles June Gloom and May Gray have become a staple and they are PERFECT for beach sessions where we get the freedom to move and play and run and love (and laugh!)... I met this gorgeous family while photographing at their kids' school and I was beyond thrilled to hear from them to capture the whole family in their first year back in Los Angeles...

We are Family

One of things I love most about photographing families is hearing from the grammies and aunties after they've received their photos, and it gets even better when those grammies and aunties come to Los Angeles and I get to meet them (so imagine how great it gets when I get to photograph them!!!)  I have been photographing this crew since they moved to Los Angeles over four years ago, and it was fitting that just before they move back east, and when their family was in town to celebrate Mother's Day, that we got our one last hurrah at the beach, everyone, all together.  Our focus was grandparents and grandchildren and I absolutely adore the moments that we captured.  I love how this family loves.  And laughs.  What great medicine...

Catch us if you Can

Last summer, I arrived to capture a family with with four boys aged 2.5 months to seven years old, not quite knowing what to expect.  I knew their mom wanted to document a "morning in their life" but I didn't quite know that meant they'd be running around in their pjs and undies and we'd be playing their version of "catch me if you can"... In our just over an hour together, we jumped, chased, read, sifted through baseball cards, demonstrated our knowledge of every piece of sporting equipment under their sun, and truly captured life at their moment in time... I love these images we captured, one in particular which has turned out to be one of my very favorite of last year... The phrase "catch us if you can" is how I describe these boys and for their parents... well... "I don't know how they do it"...
